Being a Peace Corps Volunteer would be an incredible opportunity that I would be honored to take part in. I want to serve as a Peace Corps Volunteer because I want to spread my passion for learning and teaching English, and give people the gift of education in order to empower them and allow them to experience more avenues of life. As a long time English major, I have come to know that there is a great strength that comes with writing. I have seen fellow students move people with their words, and strongly communicate their ideas and having the ability to teach students these skills fills me with a profound joy. Moreover, the Peace Corps presents an opportunity to experience everything I love in life: traveling, experiencing and interacting

My goal in life is to leave every place, person, and situation a little better than I originally found it. My background experience as an educator, for more than five years, makes me a great candidate for educational missions. Similarly, my outlook in education makes me a great volunteer, for I believe that a person’s knowledge can always be shaped, regardless of age or previous teachings. Also, I would be a great volunteer for disaster relief missions, for I am very gentle and patient. Correspondingly, my soothing demeanor allows me to be great at helping people who are facing tragedies.…

In the past few years, I’ve volunteered with a variety of organizations from National Honor Society, National Spanish Honor Society, and Key Club. I have also co-founded a Community Outreach Club at high school. Through the Church I’ve assisted with Vacation Bible School and middle school retreats. One of my favorite memories came from volunteering for the first time with National Spanish Honor Society. Choosing to participate in this program was not a difficult decision, since I knew I wanted to continue practicing my Spanish and volunteer in the community at the same time.…

Volunteering Require for College Admission Most college students have difficulty finding a job because of lack of experience in their majors or fields. In “Volunteering Required,” Loretta Van Lear argues that it is necessary for the students to be required their volunteer careers in the majors or fields before starting college programs associated with those fields. However, this statement overlooked several points which are rebuttable against it. The most important consideration is that all jobs do not have volunteer positions.…

Volunteering at Veterans Affairs Medical Center was one of the greatest experience I've ever had. Sitting down with the elderly and getting to know them, I noticed if more teens could actually sit down and take the time to talk to an elderly person they could gain an opulent amount of knowledge. Sitting down and getting to talk an innumerable amount of veterans as I could, I was intrigued by how each person had a story of their own going through WWII. Voluntarily, I was able to contribute to the organization by having open conversations with the veterans, providing beverages, and having a great time. It wasn't till the end of the program when my perception began to change about the organization I volunteered for, it's more than just about kids…

Volunteering at the homeless shelter is one of my favorite things to do. A few weeks ago, on a serene Saturday morning, my family and I volunteered at Loaves and Fishes. It was special to see just the sheer amount of people who had come out to volunteer on that Saturday. If you think about, they could’ve been doing anything on that Saturday morning. Yet, they decided to help give back to their community.…

Being a part of Phi Delta Chi philanthropy committee allowed me to help plan and be a part of a variety of volunteer experiences.
