However frequent citizens abuse the government support systems. The program is fantastic when used correctly since there are people who need government help. However, there are too many people out there who just simply refuse to work for a living. For instance there are 34 percent of Americans 16 years and older that are unemployed based on the statistics by AOL Jobs in 2010. A large number of the U.S. citizens abuse government welfare programs simply due to laziness or they just don't feel like obtaining a job.Whatever the job an American may have, they should commit themselves to it; any job is contributing to the productivity of the nations economy. All Americans should contribute in the economically part of the society if capable of doing so. With that being said Americans are not easily satisfied with their current situation. A man who works against the interests of his country, is a traitor and he does not deserve to be in the country. For instance, when someone says something bad about the leader or country stick up for it and don’t talk bad about it; because every citizen makes America the way it is today. Being part of securing the country is a great example of defending the country; for instance being a police officer, firefighter, soldier, doctor, nurse, ect. Any occupation that could possibly assist the country contributes to defending it. A prime example of this is Mike Christian; Mike Christian was a veteran. While he was in prison, he hand stitched a flag twice, even though he was beaten for having a hand stitched American flag the first time on the inside of his shirt that had been hung on the wall so he and his fellow American soldier prisoners could state the pledge every morning. This act shows loyalty to their country and they weren't afraid to defend it even if could mean losing their own lives in
