Patrick of Ireland: His Life and Impact, a book which pictured the life of St Patrick through the eyes of Michael A.G. Haykin. Through all the information gathered by Haykin, he’s able to show the reader that Patrick, even though different committed himself to missions, evangelism, and Scripture. The purpose of the book review is to prove that Haykin investigated Patrick’s life like a magnified glass and viewed what should be in all. In the first chapter, Haykin focus on Patrick and history, his life and what he did and the principle thoughts concerning his life and history. Chapter 2 focuses on his Trinitarianism, how it fit in with the theology of the ancient church and what Patrick thoughts were on this issue. Haykin spoke on the life of the Evangelical and Reformed believers in reference to Patrick’s thoughts. The third chapter elaborated on Patrick’s thinking concerning missionary and the task of the church. He was an excellent model for this assignment. He was not ashamed or fearful in speaking about it. He knew the scriptures and even had experiences in dealing with the Holy Spirit. The parts of the argument that build his arguments was that Haydin focused on the Patrick life first, Patrick difficulties with different issues, but in the end, Patrick stood his ground. Haydin said, “While God’s infallible Word indeed shapes his thought and expression, he sought in all integrity to listen to the Spirit in his daily life and so find that much needed balance of Word and Spirit that we all require in our day” (p. 98).
