Maloney, while feeling no guilt, realized that she had done a wrong- a sign often attributed to first degree killers. Why did she try to hide the murder weapon if she feared the wrath of the law? Why did she try to place the blame on the detectives? - by feeding them the lamb, she effectively tried to get rid of the murder weapon and clear herself of the crime. When that failed, she pinned the blame on the failure of the detectives, in an attempt to divert the case from the murder of Patrick Maloney. By demonstrating her hiding and later getting rid of the murder weapon, this shows absolute proof that Mary Maloney had premeditated this crime; she had everything planned from the murder to getting away with the
