After beating up one of his prostitutes, he flashes his smile to convince her to come with him, despite their past, and provide him with services. He manipulated her by telling her that she would receive more than the usual rate. After he dropped a chainsaw on his prostitute, he smiled and walked away from the crime scene and never thought anything of it. After manipulating and harming others, people with antisocial personality disorder feel little to no remorse. However, this is an aspect that is not as accurately depicted in the film. Patrick Bateman had a momentary lapse of remorse at the end when he tried to convince his lawyer that he had killed Paul Allen. He called him when he believed that the police were after him and confessed to his multiple murders. Bateman was crying and hysterical about his previous acts. He began to feel bad about everything he did but especially, Paul Allen. But his remorse does not last long; it dissipates right before he hangs
