1. Mariana’s microbiology results have led to the ruling out of any urinary tract infection (UTI), Gastroenteritis and malnutrition. The results show that her red and white cell count are within the normal range and also the epithelial cells found in the urine sample are of a moderate amount and there were no significant bacterial growth. Abnormalities in this results would have indicated to a UTI but the results were normal. According to Roche (2011), presence of bacteria, in addition to a high white blood count or epithelial cells in a fresh urine sample is a diagnostic of UTI, meaning Mariana is in the clear of any UTI.…

Because of the deficiency of glucose-6 phosphatase enzyme, glucose-6-phosphate cannot be converted into free glucose. Instead, it is hydrolyze into lactic acid which causes the high levels of lactate in urine. 3. What evidence suggests that phosphoglucomutase levels in the patient were normal?…
The 52-year-old African American has insufficient personal medical and family history because his father died in an automobile accident when he was a child, and he has not seen a doctor in the last 10 years. I will ask the patient if his mother told him about any concerning health issue regarding his late father, and if any of his uncle on his father side has any health issue and what type. Also, when he had his last routine physical and was there any abnormal findings, again why he decided not continue routine physical in the last 10 years. Although obtaining a correct diagnosis could be challenging, but a thorough history, physical assessment and conducting required test such as urinalysis, serum creatinine, postvoid residue and prostatic…

Chapter Eight: The Patient’s Story This past weeks experience in the clinical setting have prompted me to look at the patient’s story from the different point of view. This encouraged me to reveal the true story behind the circumstances and proved how quickly the people can be trapped by their own biased delusions. The chapter is focusing on the patient’s story from the perspective of literary forms in healthcare communications and the “voice” behind each form.…
Most likely, because of the abnormal sickle shape cells, they are known to buildup and obstruct blood flow in small vessels in the kidneys, which can damage kidneys and their function [10]. Figure 1.0 depicts this restriction of blood flow in small blood vessels. Over time, this can lead to excess urine buildup due to the kidneys inability to reabsorb water, thus leading to nocturnal enuresis. If kidney function is impaired, toxins that are normally filtered by the kidneys may instead still circulate in the blood and can affect the bladder, urethra, ureters and other organs. It is important to note that patients with these symptoms can get dehydrated due to the increased urine excretion, so patients should stay hydrated during the day to help…

I believe when Mrs. Haskell speaks about her son, Lewis, it provides her the strength and the courage she needs to focus on her quest to improve communication skills and health care for other patients and families. The congenital defect that Lewis had was pectus excavatum and I would not consider this as a minimally invasive surgery. If his condition was severe enough, his heart and lungs were effected. This deformity cost a close friend of mine his life following an accident due to the effects on his heart and lungs. The first dose of Toradol that Lewis received was in PACU and he received at 12 doses following his surgery (Acquaviva, K., Haskell, H. & Johnson, J., (2013).…
His serum potassium level was 6.3 mEq/L, and his creatinine level had risen to 3.8 mg/dL (hospital admission creatinine level was 0.8 mg/dL). I would expect continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT) due to his hemodynamic instability. CTTR is gentler and also removes wastes and excess fluid in a slower fashion so that the hemodynamically unstable patient will be able to tolerate the therapy (Moore, 2016). Hello Michele, I read your article about cultural competence, I think nurse’s responsibility to know the patient culture before do any type of assessment it doesn’t matter what the health care provider negative view about specific cultural. As a team, nurses need to tell the health care provider about the patient cultural values and beliefs. Always respect their culture and make a trustful relationship with them. Nurses need to make a good relationship with patient and family members also. But the main thing our team members need to be aware the patient culture.…
James, Adjou, Sylvia, Bob and Tim (represented by Ian) require identifying and advice as to the applicability of relevant contract and tort/delict principles to the current scenario presented in the problem question. Before proceeding with advising the individual’s, we need to check the validity of the contract and to establish the note displayed on the car windscreen is “Invitation to Treat” (or) “Offer”. The difference between the two is significant and need to be specifically identify, as the ‘invitation to treat’ cannot be accepted legally and an offer is an expression of willingness to contract on the specified terms without further negotiation and which is legally accepted.…
