Climate can affect the way disease can survive and infect other people who live in the environment. Varicella can spread to others when live living in cramped environments when a child is infected with the Varicella virus. The family can be exposed and not know that they can eventually spread it to others. Children and adults are at risk to exposure and possibly getting the disease if they have not be vaccinated against it. The nurse is responsible for protecting the community by educating them about the varicella virus. The risk of getting chicken pox when you have not received the vaccine is higher. According to the (Centers for Disease Control, 2016) in “2010, the frequency of new cases of chickenpox has decreased has to do with the vaccination against the varicella virus.” However, the individual who is vaccinated against the varicella virus may actually have a mild case of the chicken pox because the vaccination has a small amount of the virus in it. This process is called an attenuated virus this will help the immune system recognized the virus and begin to build antibodies against it. The varicella disease occurs all over the world (Centers for Disease Control, 2016) and in temperate climates. The most cases are during the spring months this trend has also decreased due to vaccinations against the varicella Virus. There was a major outbreak among students …show more content…
205) is “eliminating or lessening the spread of infections by providing immunizations, preventable measures, and health teaching.” The nurse is responsible for case finding and finding the appropriate resources to give to the individual when faced with varicella infections. The community health nurse has is responsible for reporting new cases to the CDC. The CDC has guidelines of three basic regulations of reporting a disease (Centers for Disease Control, 2016) “for case-based reporting included age, vaccination status, and severity of the disease.” It also important for the nurse to follow up with the outcome for example if the patient was required to be hospitalized or died from the disease itself. The nurses should also get key information as to whether the patient was vaccinated or not. The nurse should gather other information for example exposure for a school or daycare then seek out to the facilities about possible exposure. The National Shingles Foundation is a non-profit organization who supports the public on awareness and prevention against the varicella virus and other diseases in its class. According to (NSF, 2017) “chickenpox, shingles and post-herpetic neuralgia” through research and education. Because the varicella virus (NSF, 2017) “is able to stay within the body affect infection it is a dormant infection in the sensory nerve ganglia”. Herpes zoster (Center for Disease Control, 2017) is the
