Passion For Public Health

Decent Essays
My passion for public health and being a public health major is the driving force for wanting to be on the leadership team. I feel I bring experience both as a patient and through my various roles outside of school that could help better direct the club. The role I chose was Publicity Officer, and the reason for that is both my skills along with what I have heard and experienced from other students. Many students I talk to don’t know about the club, and once I share it with them they are eager to join. I feel by being granted this opportunity I will be able to bring more passionate public health individuals to our club, thus increasing the impact we can make on our campus and beyond. I will utilize social media, posters, bulletins, classroom

Why are you applying for this position? I think the new member education program is essential for the transitioning new sister in determining if Delta Zeta is the right fit for her. If the process goes the way it is supposed to, it will make the young women excited to wake up and call herself a sister in our chapter. For myself, it’s crucial to be a part of changes that influenced yourself in some way. For just going through the process myself, I think the program was great; however, I want to be a part of the team to make it even better.…

I earned my first leadership role at the age of two. At that age, I became my sister’s role model. It was up to me to teach her the tricks of the trade for everything-- from tying her shoes to studying for her first math test. Although I didn’t have any designated leadership positions during my early years of high school, it was the similarly intimate, accidental moments of leadership that colored my participation in my extracurriculars.…

I strongly believe that the true purpose of the National Honors Society is to identify and recognize students who have shown great ability in scholarship, leadership, character, and service. As an NHS member, I will not only continue in building my strengths in being a leader as well as showing great character, but excel in every other aspect shown in great students. NHS Essay

National Honor Society (NHS) is built upon four key values (scholarship, character, leadership, and service), and I think that I exemplify all four of these values, as I show them through my contribution to the club now and as I will show them through my future officer position of secretary; due to the fact that I exhibit these qualities, I will also be able to leave NHS better than I found when I leave the club in the future. NHS has offered lots of service opportunities since I have joined the club, and it offers a challenging experience for the top students in the sophomore through senior classes; fifty hours must be completed by the end of the year for returning members, and fifty hours must be completed by the next school year for new members. The club ultimately instilled in me important and very useful life qualities. The service activities that must be completed improve my work ethic and ability to work in groups with others, and they also help me get involved more with my community. As a future officer, I would be a great example for members because I have all the qualities needed to be a great NHS leader, allowing me to contribute to NHS as much as I can and to also mold future members to be like myself.…

Most little girls dream of being a ballerina when they grow up, I was the little girl who dreamed of medical school. Anyone who was brave enough to ask got my vehement no when asked if I thought that the college, subsequent medical school, and training would be too much school or that I would get bored. I decided very early that to be a doctor was one of the most exciting things that a person could chose to be and my fantastic pediatrician was the initial spark for this love of medicine. The care that I could see him exhibit in his daily operations as well as the ease at which he interacted with patients and parents alike inspired me. His knowledge was fascinating and I longed to have that level of understanding of the human body.…

John Quincy Adams once said, "If your actions inspire others to dream more, learn more, do more and become more, you are a leader". I believe I have demonstrated myself in those areas as a proven National Honors Society member in everything I am involved in. From being a youth mentor in my church, to leading in my extracurricular activities; my leadership was and still is heavily demonstrated in both my words and my actions. Being selected as a member would mean I will be devoted and pledged to all of the program and what it’s born to be and become. Also, bringing a vision and an attitude that I can change and influence those around me from the Inside and out.…

The peer leading program is undeniably one of the most selective programs at Masco in order to have a solid group of students who are hardworking and committed to improving and keeping up the spirits of our school, and I know I would fit right into this group. I really enjoyed the way Mr.Delani described the program as a way to keep our enormous student body as a close-knit community. Peer leaders do a lot of good in the school by providing underclassmen with a role model whom they can reach out to with questions or concerns about navigating through their first year of highschool. Being that person for a group of freshmen would mean a lot to me because I want to help them reach their full potential in high school. I know, from experience, how…
