The employers provide benefits for those employees who have a car pool. The first benefit is through parking cash out. Parking cash out is a commuter benefit in which an employer offers employees the option to accept taxable cash income instead of a free or subsidized parking space at work. Offering parking cash out can benefit an employer in many ways, for example reduced parking costs and better parking management. Particularly in urban areas, parking spaces are costly. Parking cash out allows employers to save on the extensive cost of supplying parking to employees.
