Jackie feels she has all the right to make the decision about her children; she further considers herself as the best mother for her children like all mothers think. She is often concerned about her children's safety to an extent of wanting to go to court to obtain a restraining order to prevent Isabelle from getting close to her children (Columbus, 1998).

In several occasion Jackie's role of a mother can be seen when she swiftly comes in, when Isabelle does not perform such motherly duties like picking the children from school on time. In one of the instance when Ben is lost at the central park, Jackie issues ultimatums to Isabelle, warning her that she doesn't want her to be taking care of her children (Columbus, 1998).
