I have four or more years of experience working full-time as a licensed certified paraprofessional in a school setting. Certain courses may require work in special areas but at this time I have a current Level 3 certification. I have worked with children of various ages (toddlers, preschool, school age). I have worked with special needs children as well as those of diverse backgrounds. I regularly interact, both formally and informally, with educational professionals within my school to gain more knowledge of how to handle situations inside and outside the classroom. I keep abreast of changes in the field of education by reading recent publications, attending seminars, conferences, and workshops within my school and on my own. I am able to identify patterns of human development and learning growth across the lifespan and understand that each child’s learning and development are unique based on knowledge of family, culture, and biological influences. Having the ability to develop collaborative relationships with colleagues to support and advocate for children’s learning by planning, modifying, and adapt teaching strategies for individual students. I am able to use informal and formal data to do frequent progress monitoring to determine if learning goals/objectives or teaching methods need to be altered as per the assessment team.
