In order to diagnose Hodgkin’s Lymphoma, your doctor may perform a physical exam, checking for swollen lymph nodes, a swollen spleen, or a swollen liver. Another way to diagnose Hodgkin’s Lymphoma is by either a blood or imaging test. In a blood test a small sample of blood is analysed to see if anything in the patient’s blood indicated cancer. If neither of those treatments work or the cancer returns then the patient has the option of a stem cell transplant. A stem cell transplant is a medical procedure where the patient’s diseased bone marrow is replaced with healthy stem cells that will hopefully allow the patient to grow new healthy bone marrow. In order for a stem cell transplant to work the patient must have had some of their blood stem cells removed before chemo and radiation started. If the patient did that then their stem cells are frozen and stored for later use, then they are given a high dose of chemotherapy and radiation to get rid of cancerous cells, then the stem cells are thawed and injected back into the patient’s
