I completed the leadership/management style inventory on Yourleadershiplegacy.com. The results established me as a “Experienced Guide” someone who is someone that is older and their experience comes with age. This leader is one who has the ability to listen and place themselves in other people’s situations. Considered “natural therapists” they have a way to help those fix their problems. These leaders tend to get in middle of a situation and or conflict. They are the conflict seeking leaders. As a nursing student for the last two years I tend not to get into situations with my nurses or employees, because that is not my place. Palliative care encompasses the assessment and treatment of pain management and support through their final months of life. I will give examples of the benefits that could come to us as nurses, our community, healthcare consumers in the district, and other members of the nursing profession if proposed priorities were supported. Some examples that are benefiting to us as nurses include conversations with patients and the general population that can highlight these situations and help nurses bring awareness to the inadequate funding and the effect that this has on patients’ disability to receive the right type of care. Nurses may be aware of a number of resources, either within the community itself or within pharmaceutical companies themselves. These resources can assist those who have difficulty paying for their prescribed medications. Working collaboratively with schools can improve healthcare in the community by leveraging a relationship with an academic institution (Grainger, A., 2016). A successful plan of action that is needed for these patients include; understanding current practice and it variations by regions, facility type, care setting, and patient population. With palliative care it is important to design treatments through qualitative and quantitative care through the quality of fundamental changes. The workforce needs include trained and qualified health care staffing, training and certifications in palliative care.
