Providers are able to review the images from anywhere. This could also allow a specialist to review images sooner, so that the patient can receive the care that is needed. The specialty provider may see something different than the other provider, and if able can get the patient in sooner to see them.
Disadvantages of the use of a PACS web based system As with any web based system, there could be concern of the images being distributed to the wrong place. There could be internet issues, thus allowing for the images not to be seen.
Overall, I do believe that a web based PACS system, is the appropriate method for this scenario. The primary care provider will be able to share the images with his colleague via the web, providing the patient consents. This will allow for a different opinion of the images, and the patient receiving a diagnosis sooner. This will allow for the patient to receive care they need
