Outrageous Career Research Paper

As a child, like my peers, I claimed I wanted to be various outrageous careers. The career changed like a revolving door; I claimed a different career path each week. One week it was a teacher while the next it was a veterinarian. I knew little about any of the careers, but the small facts I did know amused me. The revolving door continued until the age of ten, when my path began refining itself. Only a few days into fifth grade, I came down with a fever. The fever lasted for over ten days. After a couple blood tests coming back with abnormal results, I was scheduled for a bone marrow biopsy the following morning. Although I did not comprehend this at the time, I was being tested for cancer. This is a test I would gladly fail, but I passed with flying colors. Cancer allowed realizations about myself that may have taken several years without the diagnosis. I realized different aspects about myself as a person and student. As an individual, cancer shaped how I approached various situations. Instead of being timid and worrying about what others were thinking about me, I started living. Cancer taught me to take advantage of the opportunities presented to me. Considering I almost died on various occasions, I recognized the need to live life to the fullest; I did not want to half-do anything since I may never get the opportunity to try that task again. After witnessing many other patients die, I desired to live my life since they did not have the opportunity to live theirs. I felt guilty for them having their life taken from them, so use my life to take advantage of opportunities, not only for me, but for them as
