a. I went around to my nurses patients a couple times to see if they needed anything. I made sure they knew what I was doing before I did it. I also talked to the parents some about life in general.

I was able to connect theory with practice when I watched the NG tube placement while I helped hold the baby’s arms and legs. With this, I was able to watch how an actual NG tube was placed and how uncomfortable this procedure can be. Through this, the nurse did a few things to help with that. For example, she gave the baby a pacifier with a sugary solution in it to help calm her down before the NG tube placement.
4. What was the best part of your outpatient clinic day? Please describe.
a. The best part of my clinical day was watching my patient interact with different patients. She did such a good job of making the patients feel comfortable in the situation they are in, even though hospitalization can be stressful. She calmed my patient down after he soiled the bed, and she helped him realize that it isn’t his fault. Also, when my patient was playing videogames but the volume wouldn’t work, she asked him to make sounds to fit the game, which ended up making him smile.
