A girl who yells, but no one hears, she is smarter than most but no one knows, she is kinder than most but no one cares. Melody has a disease where she can’t talk or move. One of the worst parts for Melody is that she can remember and it’s all cluttered in her brain. Everything she hears and she sees, but she can’t share that with anyone. She struggles with this ordeal throughout the book, but keeps fighting until she can share her gift. Out of my Mind will be read in 100 years because of its strong theme and inspiring character. The theme of this book is very heartfelt and loving. Her family understands that Melody is different then most kids. Not different because she is in a wheelchair, different because they know she understands them. Throughout the book Melody goes though many hard task, but her family never leaves her side. Soon enough Melody finally gets a little sister. She is very joyful and animated. Melody loves her with all her heart and so does her parents, which makes Melody nervous. She feels like she can do something, but she is stopping herself from getting there. Here parents help her throughout the book to make sure she always feels loved and happy. When Melody starts getting more words on her tray she starts expressing herself more. As her little sister and Melody come together the learn that it is okay to be different and to always love yourself. Her parents support Melody when she gets on a team that travels the country and is asked difficult questions. This helps Melody show people that just because she is different doesn’t mean she isn't smart. Therefore Melody begins becoming more of the person she wanted to be. Also her neighbor helped Melody through many difficult task, and she never gave up on her. Melody appreciates all of them and always tries her hardest to show them this. Overall the book is a beautiful and loving
