Starting on Monday my first assigned OR was room 5. In this room the orthopedic surgeries are done. I had the opportunity to watch three surgeries. On the first surgery, the patient was having a repair in his lower leg. Since it was open wound, the preparation was different from other cases. Different products were used to achieve a higher level of cleanliness and maintain the health of the patient. Even though I couldn’t do a lot things, I had the opportunity to observe and learn more about what a circulating nurse do in the OR. These activities include but are not limited to obtaining medicine and fluids for the patient, running specimens, handing instruments that are outside the sterile field to the surgical tech, such as needles, gauze,
