Alaniz 1 Baseball has been around for centuries. Baseball is also known as America’s pastime. Baseball was branched off from many different sports as in, stoolball, cricket, and cat and dog. Some may ask “what is cat and dog, and what does it have to do with baseball?” Cat and dog is a game that was originated in Scotland where a piece of wood called cat, is thrown at a hole in the ground while another player tries to defend the hole with a stick called a dog. Odd, but interesting.
Cricket on the other hand is much more like baseball. In the early 14th century the game was invented by a group of people who later got in trouble by King Edward IV, because he thought that the game was childish.
