Teaching Plan The goal of this teaching plan was to build upon prior knowledge of the learner, administer a pretest to determine what learners already know and if results change; implement oral health teaching regarding the effects of oral health on the body, the psychosocial impact, how to improve oral health, and VT Medicaid; and then evaluate whether it was effective using the same five-question survey. The psychosocial impact of poor oral health was worth including because it has been correlated with increased rates of depression and anxiety in adults as well as a diminished ability to learn in children (Holt, & Barzel, 2013).

The same oral health teaching was done in regards to the negative effects of oral health on the body. Overall, five adults listened to the teaching session, took the pamphlets, as well as took the pre and post-test surveys. Four out of the five adults got 100% of the questions correct on the post-test survey after the oral health teaching. Recommendations for this teaching session also include rewording the survey questions because the same survey was used as previously and going to the Kitchen Cupboard on a day closer to the end of the month might result in more people being …show more content…

+different locations were 85% effective. Although the teaching helped, Bennington still needs tremendous help with oral health projects and education in the community. The Bennington Oral Health Coalition is the local group working to increase the resources in the community, spread awareness, engage the community, as well as implement systems and policy
