Oprah Winfrey Overcoming Obstacles

This writing assignment is centered on the topic overcoming obstacles. What better way to talk about overcoming obstacles than to talk about the life of Oprah Winfrey. As much as we know about what all Oprah Winfrey has accomplished we fail to realize what she has been though to get where she is today. She was born is Mississippi where her mother was a teen on welfare. Already it's starting to look bad. Only because when she was born times were hard. As much as her mother was trying to care for her as far as working as a maid, it was still not enough to take can of Ms. Winfrey. When her mom couldn't take care of her anymore, she then went to live with her nineteen year old cousin who also raped her. She was raped so many times that eventually she got pregnant around the age of fourteen. Ms. Winfrey lost her baby during the developmental stage and that's when the father came into the picture. Going to live with her father was the best move for Oprah because it really changed her life. By her going to be with her fathering Tennessee, the number household rule was education. Her father put education first in her life and she took advantage of the opportunity that was given to her. She was pretty much everything is high school from taking public speaking to becoming school president. She went on to receiving a full scholarship to Tennessee St. in public speaking. She then got on with a few jobs at some television shows. Eventually, got her own show renamed after her and the rest is history. Like I said everything just changed for the best when her father came into the picture. During an interview she was taking part in, she actually thanked her past which help her be the woman she is
