What is oppression? According to a previous social study classes we were taught that it’s the cruel and unjust treatment, or control, of others by people in powerful positions. Based on many examples in history of oppression, including African American slavery, The Salem Witch Trials, and the more recent Islamophobia, it’s easy to equate the people of power with the mass majority.
