Though Kuwait makes a very large amount of money they have a very small population of 3.369 million causing Kuwait to ultimately have a very small and weak military. Kuwait’s lack of military and high income introduces Iran as a direct threat. Prior to the attack on Kuwait Iran owed Kuwait an extremely large sum of money. Iran had no way to pay off their debt which led to a contributing factor toward the start of the gulf war. Iran’s debt with Kuwait hadn’t started the war on its own, several years before the raid Kuwait had seceded from Iran and become its own country.
