Operant conditioning is a type of learning in which behavior is strengthened if followed by a reinforcer or diminished if followed by a punisher. In operant conditioning there are positive reinforcements, negative reinforcements, primary reinforcers, conditioned reinforcers, positive punishments, and negative punishments. In our video we are explaining how operant conditioning applies to Marlene’s sister, Celi, and other teens around the world. In order to teach Marlene’s sister to get good grades she is operantly conditioned by being grounded. Celi’s mom uses negative reinforcement by grounding Celi in order to stop the troubles she has by her daughter getting bad grades.
