Admittedly, one aspect in which PCs are superior to Macs, would be the initial price range. …show more content…
Typically, people research big purchases, like laptops and computers, before buying them. One of the big deciding factors is customer satisfaction, because those ratings will tell the buyer directly how happy they will be with the specific product and the service. According to a ChangeWave survey conducted, mac users “reported by far the highest level of satisfaction…with 81 percent of Apple customers saying they were ‘highly satisfied’” (Krazit). Likewise, Apple holds “the highest customer satisfaction rating for its hardware and services, while Dell fell to barely over 50%” (Sahoo). Jim Cook, the CEO of Apple, explains how the “Mac has outgrown the PC market for six years” in a row due to the fact that “the Mac is consistently named No. 1 in customer satisfaction and reliability.” In addition, he says that the number one desktop and notebook in the United States is the Mac (qtd. in Guglielmo). This is important to consumers because they want a high quality product to invest in that will last a long time. PCs typically are made with lower quality materials, like plastics, to lower the overall cost. However, this causes a lot of wear and tear on PCs and can causes them to break easier. It is also much more likely for PCs to encounter problems, due to the fact that the hardware used comes from many different manufactures. This means it will be a lot more likely you will need to get parts fixed or replaced. Adversely, Apple sets a much higher standard of quality for their computers. Macs are designed to last; using quality materials like aluminum, glass, and rugged polycarbonate that are paired with “powerful processors, advanced graphics, and fast memory” (Sahoo). In an article from The Washington Post, it describes how Macs are compatible with almost any PC file using integrated Intel chips, also saying that Mac “software [is] far more superior to the junk on most PCs” (“Mac vs. PC”). Since it’s release to the market, the Mac has “brought a new, user-friendly type of software that used a graphical interface”
