This law has driven many Han Chinese family to the extremes just so that they can have a male heir to the family. I understand that Chinese culture is behind the male preference, but I am convinced that the government should do more to alleviate the situation. They could greatly make the policy more moral, by reforming it to a more morally acceptable form. Maybe the government could institute a better policy, such as providing an incentive for families not have children, rather than fully criminalizing the act of having more than one child. No child should have to go through the neglect that is rumored to be rampant among Chinese families and orphanages. It is disturbing to me, knowing that orphanages, establishments that are supposed to be a refuge for children left behind, have devolved into a savage place, where many abandoned children are often left to perish. If the government were to keep the policy as active, I would suggest that they do more to regulate the orphanages scattered throughout China. I believe that this would help cut some of the many monstrous crime being committed by orphanage owners who have no sympathy for helpless
