Olympe de gouges, originally named Marie Gouze, was born in Montauban, France, on December 31, 1748. She was married at 16 years old, and had a son in 1766. Unfortunately, her husband died the winter of her son’s birth. After the death of her husband, she changed her name to Olympe de gouges. She then moved to Paris and vowed to herself to never marry again. Although she had little education, she was a very powerful woman rights activist.
