Olivia Brahms: What college did you attend for undergraduate and graduate school?
Dr. Brawner: I have three degrees from Auburn university, I have a bachelors degree in zoology, a masters in zoology, and my DVM. Getting my masters made me a much much better student and veterinarian, so it was worth it in the end.
Olivia Brahms: Can you walk through an average day of work?
Dr. Brawner: An average day of work here; we open at 7, doctors get here at 8. Staff gets here at 7 to start getting things prepped. You know my day sort of varies, it is kind of broken up into three components. I have time set aside to do surgeries, time to see appointments, and then usually try to work in some time to do the business part of it which is probably my least favorite part of it, but its got to be done. And that may vary from day to day. We are usually here from 8 to 5, except Mondays we are here from 8 to 8.
Olivia Brahms: Did you minor in anything during undergrad?
Dr. Brawner: Uh, no I didn’t. I

We work on animals, but my job is to serve people, I do that by taking care of their animals. There has yet to be a dog or cat wonder up here on their own and ask for help. They come with people and it’s a people business, a business about relationships, a business about understanding peoples emotions, and attachments that they have to their animals. So yeah, I think a minor in psychology, if i was going to go back and study something other than what I did or have some kind of minor in undergraduate, psychology would be good one and the other would be business and administration. As Veterinarians we are trained as scientist and trained as veterinarians in vet school, but we get very little training in psychology and running a
