I thought this scene portrayed space because the residents and nurses were able to have their own personal space when they sat out on the exposed steel fire escape. When they sat out on the exposed steel fire escape, they were able to escape from reality for a short period of time and forget what was happening at the hospital at that time. In addition, the hospital was very hot in the summer since there was no air conditioner. If they didn’t go outside for some fresh air, they would be suffering and feel discomfort from the heat in the hospital, which will affect their ability to provide high-quality healthcare to…

The author’s note shocked me the most because the book gave me a spoiler before I even started reading the book. Homer’s Epic, Odyssey has the same format too. Odysseus returns to home before the story starts. In this book, Into the Wild, Chris McCandless, the main character of this story is dead before the author narrates what happened to him. The speaker in this book is very interesting.…

Being There is an excellent, if sometimes cringeworthy, 1979 comedy film based on a 1970 novella of the same title. The plot is centered on a mentally challenged gardener named Chance (Peter Sellers), or Chauncey Gardiner as he is later known, who is evicted from his home and is mistaken for a brilliant visionary after meeting a powerful business mogul who helps him become a famous public figure. While the script often stretches the suspension of disbelief to its breaking point it does lead to a series of funny moments once the film really gets going. Most of the comedy is based around Chance’s reactions to the complex situations that he is put into and how the rest of the cast reacts to his simplistic statements as if they were insightful nuggets of wisdom. The direction and writing do what they need to do and the cast perform well with few exceptions.…

Comedy has been and always will be a classic genre of books, music, movies, and staged theatrical productions. Reckless by Craig Lucas is an example of a successful attempt at dark comedy. It makes light of hired assassinations, murder, accidental killing, and human psychology. I found this play to be hilarious. It reminded me of one of my favorite mottos: if you don’t laugh, you’ll cry.…
