Of Mice And Men Salva's Description

Another character trait that I would use to describe Salva is that he is a very worryful person who seems to worry about a lot of things that others may not be concerned about. This is evident because in the book, Slava was worried about his family: if they were injured or killed or if they were taken to help fight the war and he was worried if he’d ever see them again. He was also worried about being eaten by a lion which was very unlikely because his uncle and others learned from that. He also worried that he won’t make it to the camp when he chipped his nail and needed the reassurance of his uncle, that he was alone when his old group left him although he found a old woman to live with and he was worried that they wouldn’t make it when his

Persistence is just one of the many characteristics that Salva used to get through the difficult environments that he had faced on his long journey to escape the war in Southern Sudan. One way Salva showed this in the book was when his uncle died he didn't give up he kept walking and he kept going until he reached safety in America. Salva took that as an opportunity to push himself to help him survive. The day after Salvas uncle was shot and killed he was left alone with no family in this group, who didn't want to share their food and didn't want to help Salva, at all. Salva used persistence to push himself and prove to the group that he was able to contribute and also that he could pull his own weight.…

In addition to the physical problems and realities of people lacking basic necessities for life Salva is also is facing emotional and physiological issues with the loss of his family and the isolation within itself. In these incredibly tough times salva has shown how hope can be as important than food and water can be. It’s amazing how someone can survive in those circumstances, but much more how he found the way to want to survive, that requires finding a source of determination, hope, and strength. The first way that I noticed the determination and optimism within Salva was with him and his uncle. Salva has collapsed in the middle of the desert not only defeated by hunger and thirst, but emotionally drained with everything else going on, his uncle urges him to keep moving and pleading him to take it day by day, one step at a time, to keep moving forward.…

Acting as an archetype in literature for hundreds of years, the common man remains one of the most ubiquitous characters in the American literary canon. Even though the concept emerges long before, the idea of the common man mostly manifests itself in the writings of American realist authors during the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. Realists strive to create works that focus on reality, its hardships, and familiarity instead of romanticized exaggeration of the trivial and idealistic. Perfectly suiting the realists’ need for a practical, relatable protagonist, the common man gives contemporary readers a character with whom to personally connect. The authors need to have experienced many of their characters’ struggles and emotions,…
