Authors show that friends can often have some misunderstandings and sometimes they just want to be left alone. Like Mannie said to Sid: “Let’s get one thing straight here, there is no WE! There never was a We! In fact, without Me, there wouldn’t even be a You!”(Ice Age) Mannie is really mean to Sid because he finds the sloth really annoying. The mammoth has been alone for a really long time and it is weird for him to have someone else sticking around with him and that is why he wants to get rid of Sid. In the book Lennie and George have times when they have disagreements. “You crazy son-of-a-bitch. You keep me in hot water all the time.” (11) There are lots of things that Lennie does and George is against them. The biggest contrast was the time. In Ice Age the activity took part more than 20,000 years ago. “The ice is melting! We have to hurry up!” (Sid) This quote shows that the group of friends was escaping from the meltdown. It also indicates to the fact that the time in the movie is during the ice age. The herd had to hurry up because the ice was melting and their lives were in danger. However, in Of Mice and Men took place during the Great Depression. "Guys like us, that work on ranches, are the loneliest guys in the world. They got no family. They don 't belong no place. They come to a ranch an ' work up a stake and then they go inta town and blow their stake, and the first thing you know they 're poundin ' their tail on some other ranch.
