Ocean Selfishness

Imagine making finger sandwiches for your family. You open the fridge, take out the ingredients, assemble the contents, and finally serve the dish. As everyone starts eating, they taste something strange but are too hungry to evaluate their doubt. A few days later your whole family gets sick and you realize the ingredients you used were wrong. The lettuce you used was mold, the cheese was a post-it note, and the mayonnaise was glue. Fifty percent of the contents in the sandwich are toxic to the human body; thus, causing the whole family to be sick. This situation may sound ridiculous and unrealistic but this is the dilemma sea mammals and sea birds face everyday. Why are those materials present in the marine world when animals do not shop? Humans are the ones who indulge on convenience without considering the wellbeing of the ones that are being harmed. Fortunately, there are people who strive to eliminate the problems created by selfish people. Without everyone’s contribution, the ocean’s contamination level will rise as the number of innocent animals decrease. While there are many people out there who pollute the ocean, there are some who endeavor to eliminate the waste, which are stakeholders. Nonprofit organizations are one of the most prominent stakeholders in this crisis. People in these groups spend their time brainstorming methods to create a better environment for the sea mammals.
