Ocean Related Language Essay

On day 2, the students use vocabulary words from the chapter to make new ocean related words. On day 3, the students create a study fold that the students will use throughout reading the textbook and fill in important information about the subsurface topography. On day 5, the students break down the standard and identify parts of a sentence. The students are required to know which words are nouns, verbs, adjectives, or prepositional phrases. Daily, the students are required to write in their journals for the bell ringer activities and other assignments, the students turn these journals in every Friday for review by the teacher. This will enable the teacher to assess the students that will need remedial activity sheets or one-on-one instruction.

It allows the students the freedom to create and design their own representation of the subject matter being discussed using their own learning style.
Learning Task 2: On Day 7, the class draws a picture of a wave and describes a time they experienced a wave, then the students participate in a lecture discussion with the teacher that includes vocabulary from the content covered. Once the lecture has been complete, the students then have the opportunity to experience waves themselves with the mini lab that will be completed in class. The students will then take the data they gathered during the lab activity and create a lab report with a discussion section that asks the students to draw their own conclusions.
