Occupational Therapy Assistant

At first I didn’t want to be an occupational therapist assistant. I had dreams of becoming a nurse and following my passion of science. I became a certified nursing assistant in hopes of becoming a nurse then began to realize I didn’t like nursing as much as I assumed I would, but this exposed me to occupational therapy. I quickly realized I wanted to be an occupational therapist assistant where I could see personally the results of my efforts, and spend more time with patients impacting their life, as the occupational therapist assistant impacted my residents. I have always loved helping others and empowering others to help themselves. Becoming an occupational therapy assistant I would fulfill my passion of science and art. To be able to have endless flexibility and creativity as well as not have a boring desk job is what I strive for. I want to pursue a career in which I can make an impact on each person I work with by thinking outside the box and creating specific treatments to address the needs of each person. A career as an occupational therapy assistant would greatly support my passions and goals.

Over the past couple of months I have worked hard to achieve extraordinary grades in my classes with National American University. I have a strong desire to learn more and study occupational therapy at my highest level. The combination of my need for a challenge, desire to learn and determination is what make me a good fit for the Occupational Therapy Assistant Program.
