According to the (American Occupational Therapy Association 2015), “The National Society for the Promotion of Occupational Therapy was founded in 1917 and incorporated under the laws of the District of Columbia”. The Constitutional objective of the states “Occupational Therapy shall be to study and advance curative occupations for invalids and convalescents; to gather news of progress in occupational therapy and to use such knowledge to the common good; to encourage original research, to promote cooperation among occupational therapy societies, and with other agencies of rehabilitation” (American Occupational Therapy Association 2015),

Continuous communication ensures adequacy and accuracy of the needs of the patient. The (OTA’s documents these actions daily.
Occupational Therapy Assistant’s must always conduct his or herself in a professional manner. There are codes, guidelines, and laws one must adhere to in order to maintain employment or association. First, there is the code document that outlines the expectations and manner in which one must present his, or herself. Reflection on the historical foundations of occupational therapy and related professions resulted in the inclusion of Principles that are consistently referenced as a guideline for ethical decision making.
The goals of a Occupational Therapy Assistant is to refresh, rejuvenate and assist the individual in recovering from the injury. Assisting the patient to return to normal health is key. Therefore, OTA’s must stay abreast of the new trainings, procedures and safety measures to work with the patient.
In conclusion the OTA has been in service over a decade providing first rate care and supervision to the public. Today, the Occupational Therapy Assistants (OTAs) staff works under the direct supervision of the Occupational Therapist (OTs). His or her duty is to assist in providing patients with above average treatment on all levels. These are patients who have limitations as a result of physical injury or illness, mental health problems, developmental or learning disabilities, or the aging
