Observation Of Children Observation

The assignment this time was to observe two-year-olds at the daycare center using the running-record method. During this assignment, we had to use a checklist that displayed many behaviors that the children might exhibit. We would check yes, no, or sometimes if the child did this certain action. I had to observe eight children in ten minute intervals, and write down their every single move within that time limit. I saw throughout my observations many different types of developments such as language, socioemotional, and cognitive. I enjoyed doing this assignment because of the children all being a little older, and also seeing that some of this kids were extremely different from each other.
This particular assignment was quite different, but it was manageable. Many of the children ran in a forward direction; they would run forward to get away from one another. Also, they jumped in a forward direction while they were outside. The children did not necessarily throw a ball, but they threw objects like a ball such as a fake tomato or spherical object. Every time I saw them throw a spherical toy they did not have any aim. They would pull their arm all the way

I now know more about how the child mind thinks. The kids in this observation I came to see that they were in Piaget’s preoperational stage of development. They were representing the world with words unlike the toddlers. They also seemed to have this egocentric outlook because it was all about them when it came to feeding, playing, and just getting attention. I liked using the checklist because almost everything on the list was what the children were doing. I am becoming more interested in children. It is fascinating to see how the human mind grows even as a little child. I continue to see how this class and observation assignments are coming together in teaching me not only about children but about my own

When I arrived, I observed a juvenile by the name of Diallo Xavier Fitzgerald (B/M DOB: 01/29/2003) sitting on a chair in the dining room area surrounded by other facility staff members. Diallo had noticeable scratches on his face, his forehead and nose appeared to be swollen. Introduction: Child development involves emotional, physical, sociable, and intellect changes over a period from conception through adolescence. Childhood is a multifaceted process in which many changes occur. To fully understand the changes throughout childhood, one interview and observation was conducted to a toddler perspective, and a second interview and observation was implemented on a school-age child. Vast changes arise from infancy and toddlerhood, jumping to later childhood, and that was deceptive when comparing the outcomes from the two observations. Alex, who is eight years old, was the topic of the school-age child interview and observation.…

A well-defined checklist with observation training is critical and essential for an assessment system. Observations of child behaviors and skills provide the teacher with a powerful measure of a child’s abilities. For example, a teacher observation of a child retelling what happened last night at home with a big smile and expressive language is a truer measure of oral language skills than asking the child to retell a story in an unfamiliar setting.…

Observational Study of Infant and Caregiver An observational study is a form of naturalistic observation, “in which some naturally occurring behavior is observed without intervention in the situation” (Feldman, R.S., 2015, p. 27). For about an hour, from 15:00 to 16:00, the observer followed this mother and child throughout the store.…

Focused DIRECT Observation Vygotsky had focused a lot on scaffolding in which he said it was really helpful in promoting language to children and how to understand children’s solutions. He had also mentioned how teachers need to be very supportive and responsive to the children’s needs. To be observant to the child’s behavior and to try to understand them. Scaffolding is looking at the child and where they're at developmentally and from knowing where they are a teacher finds ways for that child to grow in those developmental areas.. When observing the children in the classroom I noticed what the children needed a lot of work on so I had to come up with an activity to help them and to try to tie it into the study that they are doing in the…

By observing these three young children, I would say it’s easy because things that I learned in class, I can see in these children. They act the way they act and do the thing they want according to their certain age group. I have fun watching them and guessing what their age would be. Every guess I made, I felt like I was right, but I was just a little off for the first two and I was right on my third one. Every child is different, and they have a different personality and it’s fun to watch them when they play or do things you did not expect.…
