Obesity Vs Income Essay

Obesity is a disorder involving an excessive quantity of body fat. A person can see if they are obese by their body mass index (BMI). A body mass index is calculated by a person's weight and stature. Anyone’s body mass index over thirty is considered to be obese. Obesity can be broken down into the different classifications Obese any BMI over 30, severely obese any BMI over 35, morbidly obese any BMI over 40, and super obese any BMI over 50. Being obese can increase your risk of diseases such as diabetes, affection disease, high blood pressure, and many other diseases. These diseases can cause premature death. Obesity is rated number two for the most preventable death other than smoking. Income plays a significant role a person's lifetime, especially when it comes to their health. Income is money received, on a steady basis, most likely through working. People income can range from low to high. Many believe the relationship is between a person's food choice and their physical body processes. But in many lower income families or individual it may be unmanageable for them to be more physical activity because of their working schedule and lack of knowledge on exercises. Especially in lower income single families where the mother is the principal of the households. “Although increasing physical activity accelerated weight loss, perceived safety threats were a barrier to exercise among obese, low-income women”( Moredich & Kessler, 2014, p. 330). Many people who suffer from low-income may not be capable of affording the gym or even put the time in their schedule for a workout.
