More than 68.8 percent of adults (20 and over) are considered to be overweight or obese, while more than 35.7 percent of adults are considered to be obese and more than 6.3 percent have extreme obesity according to The US Department of Health and Human Services. There was a dramatic increase in BMI in the average US Citizen from 1978-1997 then again in 2003 and still continuing on today. The US government has even begun to enforce laws with the school systems for what students can purchase to eat at lunch. As most of us know, Michelle Obama has made a huge impact on the school lunches around the United states. She had the right idea in mind, to help those children whom i mentioned prior, that only get fed fast- food from their parents, to get a more nutritious meal. But her school lunch control regulations have been an utter failure. Students are completely against these limited calorie lunches. Not only are the children upset, but schools are losing millions of dollars due to the uneaten food being served and made. Parents are even getting involved. They are very upset about what their children are being served for lunch at school and the blame is being placed on Michelle’s Federal school lunch regulations for the unsightly
