Neo classic art was a style of art that was related to the Ancient Greek and Roman Empires. In consideration to the French, neoclassicist looked up to the French artist Nicolas Poussin who exemplified the 17th century French classical arts. The artist behind the famous painting Oath of the Horatii was Jacques-Louis David. David was a French painter during the era of neoclassical, who was also known later as an active supporter of the French revolution just like his friend Maximilien Robespierre. The neoclassicist of the French revolution times wanted to express the seriousness of the time they had lived in and their want of overthrown the monarchy and bringing the French republic to plan. These triplet warriors were famous because of their victory against the triplet warrior of Alba Longa named Curiatii. These triplets were in a life or death fight and the victory went to the Horatii after a deadly fight. Unfortunately only one of the Horatii brother survived however he also killed his sister who was married to a Curiatii. The painting Oath of the Horatii was a painting, which expressed the anger toward monarchy and asking the warriors for help and strength to take down the monarch of French. During the French revolution the people of France were furious against the royal family due to the great debt the country was in leading to higher taxes the people had to pay. During that year of the French revolution the agriculture was bad which also caused a big fury in the citizens. These debts French owed were from the seven-year wars and the American
