As Alternate Awards Program Manager, the only task I handled was the submission of Command Master Chief Rosado’s award submission into TV5, in the absence of the Primary Awards Manager. This critical element is not applicable to me, as it is 99.9% of the time handled by the Primary Manager. If he knows he will be absent at a time when an award item needs to be completed, a thorough turnover is always done and I will process the item if/when needed with 100% accuracy. I have made 27 NDAWS entries, ensuring awards are properly submitted electronically in the award history before mailing them PERS-32 for OMPF record entry.

This year I have processed over 120 items in the Transaction Online Processing System (TOPS), as the liaison for CSS HQ military staff to Personnel Support Detachment (PSD) Newport. These transactions are, but are not limited to, new PCS personnel, travel claims, Family Separation Allowance, Administrative Remarks (NAVPERS 1070/613) entries, Records of Emergency Data (NAVPERS 1070/602), death gratuity (FSGLI), and Service Member’s Group Life Insurance (SGLI) updates. All transactions were submitted after an inspection of pertinent information completeness and accuracy. In the unfortunate event of the death of a service member’s dependent, I coordinated with the command Casualty Assistance Calls Officer (CACO) to ensure the smooth process of all paperwork required for the service member to receive all FSGLI benefits in full and in a timely manner. This process was done with the utmost care and in a way that was not intrusive to the grieving service member.
