The first compromise was the decision to replace the Articles of Confederation rather than amend it. The initial plan of the Constitutional Convention attendees was to amend the Articles of Confederation. Two attendees, Governor Randolph from Virginia and William Patterson from New Jersey, shared their own modifications early on, known as the Virginia Plan and the New Jersey Plan. As these plans were discussed, it became obvious that a new document was needed. The new document was the U.S. Constitution. Discussions about the Virginia and New Jersey plans led to the second compromise.

NV judges are elected by the people. In contrast, federal judges are nominated by the President and confirmed by the Senate. The election of judges in NV creates a conflict of interest with the public in whom they sit in judgment. Judges must raise money in order to fund their election. These funds sometimes come from individuals or attorneys that appear before the court. The NV judicial election process is viewed as a system that lends itself to corruption.
NV’s government handles judicial removals in the following four ways. The first method is through impeachment and trial. The NV assembly impeaches a judge through a majority vote. Once impeached, the NV Senate conducts a trial in which a 2/3 vote is required to gain a conviction. If the judge is convicted, he or she is removed from the bench.
The second removal method, called legislative address, is used when the Assembly and Senate remove a judge for any reasonable cause. A 2/3 vote of members in each house of the NV Legislature is required to remove a judge by legislative
