I would to say I came to final skills test fully prepared, because I spent multiple hours a day for the past week practicing my skills, and I would try and go to every open lab. When it got closer to the date of the skills test, I started combining my skills and timing myself to simulate how it would be on the actual test day. I was able to exhibit professionalism by dressing appropriately in my clinical clothes. Not only did this make me look like a real, professional, it established a more immediate patient-nurse trusting relationship which allows my patient to feel more comfortable with me performing skills on her. Right before I started any skills, I asked my patient if she had any barriers that would not allow me to look at her genital area or give her an injection. My client was okay, but if she was not, I would do my best to accommodate her but ultimately explain the importance of the skills I was performing. I also took her age into consideration when doing cares. My patient was exhibiting forgetfulness and had a pulse of 92 percent. While this is commonly found among the geriatric population, it is not a good sign of health which I expressed to my client. Furthermore, I tried to have adequate communication with my patient. I tried to have nice conversations with her and walk her through my skills, so she was comfortable. I also used terms that were appropriate for someone who was not involved in the nursing field, so she was able to understand fully what I was going to do. With excellent communication, I effortlessly used health promotion throughout my skills test. The nursing student policy manual states, "The nurse must be aware of the
