I clearly remember the day I found my father lying on the sidewalk as he suffered from a stroke. I was barely a teenager when my father became ill. My family spent countless hours in the hospital, nursing home, and various doctors ' offices trying to learn what had happened to this man who was our pillar of strength. I recall how the nurses became his greatest advocate and always voiced their concern for him. In those moments I realized I had found my calling in the field of nursing.…
I am writing to inform you of my interest in the Veterinary Hospital Assistant program at DaVinci College in Halifax Nova Scotia. I applied to this program due to having a special part in my heart for animals and would love to work with them in a veterinary setting. My love for animals started at a young age. When I was young we didn’t have any pets in our home.…

As a child I was a very shy to those I was not yet familiar with. I had open ears; however, I was not always willing to speak to strangers. I have since changed but I believe that my shyness attributed to two qualities that I now represent daily. I am enthusiastic and a good listener.…
Fretfulness had been a relentless companion throughout much of my childhood. I had not always been this way, but years of psychological abuse at the hands of my guardian had taken its toll. My once carefree demeanour had changed, leaving me fearful, panicky, and timid. At my second year in high school these feelings faded into the background for the first time in years, and the difference was profound. I had terrible ordeal with my guardian that left me a different person.…
At times, work can be very stressful and sometimes can be short staff on certain shifts. This has led to numerous amounts of falls and important tubes being pulled at the hospital. Everyone is so busy that at times it hard to keep an eye on the patients that are at risk for falls. Being a neuro floor means patients come in with head injuries and can be very combative at times. Being short staff has led to a lot of nurses leaving to go to other places of work.…
Q: Why do you want to work in this industry? A: I’ve always been interested in the medical fiend, but my interest in pursuing this carrier, grew after attending a homeless shelter for a project in college. I saw the shortage there was in the medical staff and the amount of people who needed medical assistance. Q: What characteristics should a practical nurse possess?…
From the moment I step into a hospital when I was a kid and watch nurses and doctors help those who are sick, and I knew what I want for a career job, but for now I just want to make sure I am on the right course to become a registered nursing and if it is exactly what I want. The most important is to see what health insurance, dentals plans, and income. I have interview Ms. Deborah Priebe to have insight of what a nurse does in a hospital setting. I also provided negatives and positive outcome of this type of field of work. I had spoken to Ms. Deborah Priebe on March 7, 2016 in an interview to conduct research what aspects of the job has for being a Registered Nurse.…
My fascination with a career in emergency medicine started on a Saturday afternoon in the park. I was playing tennis with my friends when suddenly we all heard sirens coming down the street. To our surprise, they pulled into the adjourning parking lot. EMT’s rushed out of the ambulance and ran across the field with their bags marking off a zone. Confused, I quickly realized what was happening when I heard the helicopter approaching from behind me.…
There are a lot of different kinds of medical incidents happen every year. I have noticed one of the medical incidents which are quite serious. It is about a Temporary Undergraduate Nursing Student (TUNS), who work as a part time nursing staff in a medical and geriatric ward. A client had a tracheostomy and a stomach stoma opened for breathing and feeding respectively after surgery. The TUNS was responsible to take care of that client.…
In the nursing field there are over 100 areas to specialize in. This large quantity of options makes it difficult for a young adult to know what he or she would like to specialize in and work with. There are two major ways to explore and find out where one’s calling may be, clinical experience and shadowing. The shadow opportunity was very enlightening. I was able to learn about a new floor of medicine I was not very familiar with; while shadowing a nationally recognized award winning nurse.…

In a dream, I sit at an old desk by an open window. A cool breeze ruffles all the papers strewn across the desk surface, accompanied by the triumphant shouts of playing children. From a back bedroom the lovely but imperfect melody of an instrument being practiced provides a soundtrack for my life, 10 years from now. Instinctively I understand that my ‘official’ career is in Critical Care nursing; though in the days of the dream, I only work part-time. I have a large family, violin students, and books to write.…
Volunteering is what led me to my path into nursing. It has always been central to me and I have volunteered off and on since I was 13 years old. I have continued to volunteer while attending nursing school through NSNA, activities as well as with a local disaster preparedness organization. I enjoy being part of a group that works to improve things for others. Volunteering has provided me with opportunities to grow, improve myself and make a difference in someone else’s life as well as my own.…
If someone were to ask me two years ago what I wanted to be and why, my answer would be completely different than it is today. As already having my bachelor’s degree and being in the ABSN program, I have had a lot of time to reflect on what I wanted to do and why nursing is defiantly the career for me. I always thought that I wanted to be an occupational therapist and that was what I was going to do with my career. It wasn’t until two summers ago when I figured out nursing was the path for me. My best friend became sick with encephalitis while studying abroad in Austria.…
