Nursing Room-Personal Narrative

Great Essays
7:50: This morning I’m back at the nursing home! I’m sitting on the opposite wall that I sat on yesterday, so a different perspective. I’m facing the nursing station which is very nice. There is a wall of cabinets on the left and the desk with computers on the right.

7:53: Someone is watching the news to my right, and has the sound really loud. I’m probably 100 feet away and I can hear it clearly. There is a nurse doing a check up on
At least I think that’s what the magazines are. My eyesight is so bad, I never know anymore. I like this one nurse, she’s very nice.

It’s so surprising that a small move can make such a big change!

I thought they were playing AC DC but now that my ears have adjusted it’s obviously the news.

Oh man that poster gives me the chills... pressure ulcers? That just sounds painful.

7:59: Someone is yelling for help down the hallway. A nurse runs into the room. The nurses here are starting to recognize me, it’s pretty funny. The nurse who always greets me in the morning just said “What you’d do? Stay all night?!” I was here yesterday afternoon and now this morning.. Funny.

8:00: There’s a nurse down the hallway just humming a tune. The sound of the news is lower now. Luckily the air conditioning unit to my right is not blowing directly on me anymore, so I’m cold but not freezing to death.

8:03: There is a door down the hallway that also has the white plastic on the bottom half. And there are two large doors that look like they could lock down this part of the nursing home if needed. It looks like nurses are still taking residents down to the dining room because they have wheeled 3 or 4 down there
I swear my heart stops anytime I hear an alarm or someone calling for help. The nursing home definitely keeps me on edge.

I wonder why some doors have white plastic while others don’t? Maybe it protects the doors from wheelchairs?

11:00 am I wake up to a perfectly clean room with a perfect breakfast: sausage, pancakes, bacon, and cinnamon rolls all sitting right next to my bed. I eat my breakfast and get ready for the day. I go downstairs to see my friends Austen, Zach, and Elias down there holding four tickets to the Super Bowl game tonight and a jet sitting outside in the field. I had slept in a little past what we had planned on leaving by but it didn’t matter too much we still had plenty of time to do what we wanted to.…

As a future register nurse and as a woman I feel that a have a tremendous responsibility to give back to my community. I believe that one of the most forgotten populations in our community is the elderly, and as a society we have so much to learn from them and to thank them for what they did in the past. I strongly believe that if I could make some positive changes I would decide to do them to influence some senior citizens’ lives and to change their isolation for companion and thankfulness. I would advocate for the elderly with our authorities and I would request a budget to build a clinic to provide preventive health care services for them. I would designate a budget to build a nursing home for the elderly that do not have a place to…

In terms of patient experience assisting frontline nurses whilst my mother was in hospital after a major surgery the task which involved transferring her to another bed in the next ward over via a wheelchair. The nursing staff and I were mindful of avoiding injury to staff and myself as well as the patient at the same time watching my posture plus doing manual handling procedures and guidance from the nurses. I performed the maneuverer correctly as I was able to advise the nurses to lower the trolley (bed) to the wheelchair height then lift the headrest forward so my mother is sitting upright before carefully moving her body onto the wheelchair in a one motion move by holding one side of her shoulders then pulling her gently and carefully towards…

“So he can talk after all.” (page 120) is what the nurse said the moment Dally and I came in, after having Johnny slightly opening his eyes and faintly saying, “Hey guys.” I was so happy to see that despite Johnny’s body dying and falling apart, his soul was complete and full of the Johnny I always knew and loved. I quietly moved to the side and whispered to the nurse, “How’s he doing?”…

The person I decided to interview was Kristen McKenna, a registered nurse. I interviewed her over the phone since she resides in Maryland. I chose to interview her since she has the profession that resembled a physician assistant the most in comparison to others I could have contacted, plus I know her parents fairly well and knew I could easily get an interview with her. All of my contacts live in other states so unfortunately it was not possible for me to schedule a meeting with any of them. The specific questions I prepared were essentially the ones that were provided in the “Possible Questions to Ask During the Information Interview” section.…

When I was a child and a lot of times during my adolescence I had several moments of indecision about the things that I wanted. From the simplest to the most complicated. That's why I chose nursing as my career to college because this was a way I found to realize my dream; being able to help my fellow man when he needs it most. Care, protect, guide and support anyone who needs, help others to face their fears and challenges, it is very rewarding!…
