In the present time, cost of living is always increasing directly affecting the cost of education. The higher the education level that one seeks, the higher the cost(Ward, 2013). Not only is it costly for oneself it is expensive to the employer as well. In an institution where the employer funds the further education of their employees, they would have to pay for the attendance of the nurses as well as for their absence from the patience’s bedside(Ward, 2013). The cost of implementing the taught subject also increases the weight of the cost for the employer. The second con is the time spent(Ward, 2013). Time is always spent studying any material learned. The time spent on the subject is time spent away from patients again affecting the employer and patients. Finally, there is also the speculation of where it is actually necessary to learn so often(Ward, 2013). Education doesn’t necessarily guarantee better practice, there are always constraints and obstacles such as time, money, personal spent on implementing the changes. In-service, education is knowledge learned to be competent at one's job. It’s pros are that it's flexible, less time consuming and relatively cheap or free. In services can be impromptu or planned for a specific time (Maguire, 2015). They are usually done by co-workers or by other institutions, for example, a company that owns a new medical equipment that they are demonstrating in an area etc. (Maguire, 2015).
