Researchers have shown that inactivity has a profound adverse effect on the brain, skeletal muscles, skin, pulmonary, and cardiovascular systems (Carpenito, 2017).
On the other hand, we could provide self-help devices for Mr. Wu. Such as toilet risers, shower chair, drinking straw and reacher grabber for picking things. And encourage Mr. Wu to have good grooming and makeup habits. These can enhance independence, reduce patient’s reliance on others for meeting own needs and enable patient to have active social life (Nurseslabs, 2013).
Besides, we should promote Mr. Wu’s self-esteem and self-determination. When performing self-care activities, provide choices and request preferences for schedule, methods, clothing selection and hair styling.
