The human impact upon Numinbah Valley has come from two main things, Farming and Tourism. Farming has impacted the environment at Numinbah Valley because farmers have been cutting down trees among the riverbanks and depleting the last remaining way for the soil to not get washed away with the current. Also, farming also produces waste and chemicals which also enter our water, polluting it. This then creates less pristine or foggy water for the lower parts of the river and more work for the Gold Coast City Council. However, Tourism has also left its mark upon Numinbah Valley. Through tourism, we have interfered with natural environments by building structures such as bridges which have helped us and the tourists, but have disturbed the natural environment, and roads that run through some lower rivers. But a positive Human impact that we have upon Numinbah Valley are …show more content…
Numinbah Valley is placed on the Indo-Australian crustal plate is the Gold Coast Hinterland which moves 7cm north each year. About 23-24 million years ago the Gold Coast Hinterland was over a hotspot which is a weakness in the Earth’s crust that forces basaltic magma to the surface and erupts to form expansive volcanoes. On top of that, Rhyolite, Basalt and Pyroclastic rock were formed and through later eruptions, and acidic Rhyolite was laid down to form the cliffs of Springbrook plateau. 10 million years after this, the volcano began to die. Over the next millennia the lava plugged many of the vents and through weathering and erosion transformed this volcano into an erosion caldera landform. The erosion occurred much more due to the fact that Numinbah Valley is closer to the ocean which is where more clouds develop, therefore creating more rain and faster
