Nuclear Energy Argumentative Essay

The talk about using nuclear power as a new energy source has been a big discussion amongst many. Many shared their views on nuclear energy being our new soce of power. Negative and positive feedback from many articles, professors, funders, and ordinary people have made it hard to come to an agreement on whether or not to move forward with making nuclear power the new source of energy. Events such as the one in Fukushima and the radiation spill in Pennsylvania have caused many to fear and fight against the thought of using nuclear energy to power our everyday necessities. Although there are good advantages to using nuclear energy, there are also many negative effects of using these power plants as well , enough to persuade myself and many others to accept the pollution caused by burning fossil fuels and how rapidly we are …show more content…
Leaks of excessive amounts of radiation, explosions, radioactive waste, and large amounts of money are just some of the negative effects using power plants as energy could cause. If the power plant is not properly cared for large amounts of radiation could leak out affecting large areas also causing many to have to relocate for large periods of time because large amounts of radiation could cause of cancer and other future issues in the affected people. In the text “The truth about nuclear power” by Veronique de Rugy , it talks about the good and bad of using nuclear energy. The text states “future technologies may reduce the chance of some terrible disaster but it won't ever eliminate it completely. Like all other sources of energy , nuclear power entails some risk”. Using the nuclear power plants as an energy source is similar to lay Russian Roulette. The more we use it , the greater the chance of another disaster
