What is SCRUM?
SCRUM is the agile framework that helps team to deliver customer value early and often in high predictable manner.
It is first published by Ken Schwaber and Jeff Sutherland.
Main characteristics of SCRUM:
The main characteristics of SCRUM are as follows:
• SCRUM process is iterative (that means the projects is done in successive cycles called as sprints) and incremental (the functionality of the product increase during each iteration by adding new functions).
• In SCRUM team does not work as sequential process; it works as a complete cross functional team. Hence parallel development takes place and takes less time to develop the product.
• SCRUM process is reviewed on daily basis (there are daily SCRUM meetings …show more content…
Actual application of both XP and SCRUM together can be done as:
Firstly, try it all with the SCRUM. Adopt the entire SCRUM framework, everything that SCRUM talks about. In other words adopt the three roles which are: SCRUM master, Product owner and team. Adopt the scrum meetings: Sprint, planning meeting, daily scrum and sprint review retrospective and working with time box sprints. Then, try adding some key Extreme programming technical practices. The ones that would start off with include test driven development, continuous Integration and refactoring. In particular, Continuous Integration tends to drive a lot of good practices. So it will be better to start with the continuous integration first. Then once you will comfortable with continuous integration very shortly, thereafter introduce some element of test driven development and refactoring as you go along. Once the team is comfortable with those initial extreme programming technical practices, then one can add more complex and the more philosophical approaches that come from XP. Once the team is comfortable with continuous development with continuous integration, test driven development and refactoring, only then start introducing some new practices such as simple design, common code ownership and small
