On october 12, 2015 at or about 1102 hours i was dispatched to 1735 east young circle (publix supermarket), hollywood florida, in reference to a cellphone being taken. Upon further investigation it was later found that the cellphone would equal the amount to grand theft (over $300.00usd). Let it be also noted during the time of this investigation, i was working an off-duty detail at the above location.
Upon arrival i made contact with the james othman, herein after referred to as the victim. The victim advised me that at approximately 1051 hours his phone was taken from the customer service counter (located at the south side of the store). The victim stated that while he was at the front desk being assited by customer service, he placed his phone down on the counter to take his wallet out. The surveillance video recorded the following; on the above date, time stamped at exactly 1051 hours, the victim was conducting a transaction at the customer service counter. The victim then places his phone on the counter to take his wallet out. He finishes his transaction and apparently forgets to retrieve his wallet. At approximately 1052 hours, a bald possibly white –male between the ages 45-55 years old is seen walking up to the customer service counter and makes contact with an employee. It appears the same white male is also conducting a transaction at the counter. Let it be also noted the suspect is standing at the same spot that the victim was standing. While conducting his transaction the suspect notices the victims cell phone and immediately places it in his pocket. The suspect is then seen, finishing his transaction, and begins walking towards the front entrance of the publix and getting on a black bicycle (located inside the publix) and exiting the
